We love how the purl welts of this fun cowl give a fascinatingly sculptural effect and give you an opportunity to play with color and texture! Cross the color wheel for a striking contrast, or pick subtle shades for a soft depth. Either way, your Welted Cowl will be cleverly reversible!

This version of our cowl was knit in Rowan —beautifully soft and lightweight. In this DK-weight yarn, Rowan uses the finest Giza cotton—the creme de la creme of Egyptian cotton. This yarn is soft and tactile with a unique matte look.

FINISHED SIZE
Cowl: Approx. 24"/61cm around x 11"/28cm deep, with welts flattened.

YARN
Cowl: 3 skeins (142yds/130m each); 2 skeins in main color (MC) and 1 skein in contrast color (CC). Or approx. 220 yds/200m of DK- or sport-weight yarn.
Sample shown in colors (MC) 460 Linen, and (CC) 472 Pink Powder (discontinued).

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 6 (4mm) 16–24"/40–60cm circular needle, or size to obtain gauge.
One US 8 (5mm) needle, or two sizes larger than gauge needle, for bind-off.
Darning needle to finish.

GAUGE
Approx. 20 sts = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch in the round, blocked.
